Bus Bike Walk is made by Kanto Projects in Honolulu. The short version: there is no account, we don't collect anything about you, and your location is never sent to us.

What stays on your iPhone

• Trip planning. Trips are planned on the phone itself, from a timetable stored in the app. Your location is the starting point and, in GO, it moves you along the trip step by step. We have no server that receives it.
• Your places and settings. Home, Work, recent places, your usual trips, your preferences and any “Tell me when to leave” alert are saved on the phone. Deleting the app deletes them.
• Notifications. Leave alerts and GO nudges are scheduled on the phone. Nothing goes through a notification server of ours.

What leaves your iPhone, and who receives it

The app talks to a few services to do its job. None of these requests carries your name, an account or an identifier from us. Like any internet request, each one shows the service your IP address.

• Apple Maps. The map, place search, addresses, and walking and cycling paths come from Apple. To provide them, the app sends Apple what you type in search and the points involved, which can include your starting point. Apple handles this under its privacy policy.
• TheBus. Live arrivals are requested from Oahu Transit Services by bus stop number. The app asks about the stops near you and the stops on your trip, so TheBus can see which stops those are, but not your exact location or who you are.
• Biki. Bike and dock counts come from Biki's public feed. The request contains nothing about you.
• Timetable updates. New schedules are downloaded from our file storage at Amazon Web Services. It is a plain download with no identifier.
• Google AdMob. The free version shows ads from Google. We ask only for non-personalized ads, and the app never asks to track you across other apps and websites. To deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google's software receives your IP address (which shows your general area), details of the device such as its model and system version, an identifier that is limited to this developer's apps, which ads were shown and tapped, and performance and crash data. See how Google uses this information. If you buy the one-time purchase that removes ads, the app stops requesting ads, and from the next launch Google's ad software isn't started.
• The App Store. That purchase is handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.

Location in the background

Only while a GO trip is running, so it can keep following your trip with the screen off. iOS shows its blue location indicator during that time. When the trip ends, so does the tracking. Outside GO the app uses location only while it is open.

Your choices

• Turn location off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Bus Bike Walk. You can still plan trips by choosing a starting point.
• Turn notifications off in Settings › Notifications › Bus Bike Walk.
• Remove ads with the one-time purchase in the app's Settings.
• Delete the app to remove everything it stored.

Children

Bus Bike Walk is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

This website

This site has no analytics, no cookies and no sign-up. It is hosted on Google's Firebase and its fonts are loaded from Fontshare; both see your IP address when they serve the pages. If you email us, we get your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to answer you.
